The purpose of the Citizens' Police Academy is to educate the citizens of Atlanta about the operations of their police department while obtaining valuable feedback to enhance police and community relations. The curriculum may include tours of the 911 center, ride-alongs, SWAT, Special Victims Units (SVU), crime labs, and the use of force.

 

The Citizen's Police Academy is an eight-week program with cohorts in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. There is a graduation ceremony at the end of the program.

 

The Academy will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., September 9 to November 4, 2025.

The deadline to submit applications is August 31, 2025.  

 

Registration requirements:

  • Must be 21 Years old or Older
  • Must be a Resident or work in the Atlanta City Limits
  • No felony Convictions
  • No misdemeanor convictions within one year of application submission
  • Must be available to attend ALL 8 classes.
