Vendors may begin submitting permit and business occupation tax certificate renewal applications on January 2 each year. The applications must be submitted via ATLBIZ, the city's tax and permitting portal. All steps in the process for vendor permit renewal, including submission of fees and the required background check, must be completed on or before February 28.

The following items are required for renewal via ATLBIZ:

  • Completed Public Vending Permit application
  • Valid permit through the Fulton or DeKalb County Board of Health
  • Copy of a secure and verifiable document as listed in the Georgia Department Revenue code O.C.G.A § 50-36-2 (e.g. unexpired driver’s license, passport, etc.). View the Georgia code for a complete list of acceptable documentation.
  • 360-degree photo

After your application is reviewed for completion, the following fees will be due and payable via ATLBIZ by Visa, MC, Amex, Discover, or eCheck.

  • A non-refundable fee of $125 is applicable ($75 permit, $50 background check).
  • A $350 annual electronic reservation fee

NOTE: You must also have a valid occupation tax certificate (issued by the City of Atlanta or a jurisdiction within the State of Georgia). All completed materials required for occupation tax renewals must be received by February 15 of the renewal year. The deadline to submit payment for occupation tax renewals is April 1.

If payment must be made in person, acceptable forms of payment are cash, money order, certified bank check, any major credit card (Visa, MC, Amex, Discover). No personal or business checks will be accepted.

Following the payment of these fees you must complete the background check and fingerprinting by the Atlanta Police Department, License and Permits Unit.
