Within the City of Atlanta an unoccupied house can be boarded for a maximum of six months at a time. Once the property has exceeded the six month period for boarding then the boards must be taken down and the property reboarded for another six months. As long as the property remains vacant then this applies. If the boards have not been removed from the property in a timely manner, then Code Enforcement should be notified, and a proper inspection should be done on the property.
