The City of Atlanta Solid Waste Services (SWS) may replace damaged garbage carts.
If your garbage cart is damaged, the following methods can be used to request a repair or replacement:

Damaged Cart Repair or Replacement Process:
DPW will inspect your damaged garbage cart. To ensure service, place the cart upside down at the right-of-way (curbside), as the City of Atlanta does not access private property.
Based on the inspection:
Carts with a cracked body, broken lid, or broken handle will be replaced.
Carts with a broken wheel will be repaired.
If the cart qualifies for replacement, DPW will remove the damaged cart.
If you purchased an additional cart, you are responsible for the replacement of that cart. DPW will not provide a replacement for a damaged or missing cart if one is visible on the property.
If needed, while awaiting your replacement cart, only place up to five (5) bags curbside. Do not use a non-city issued cart.
