Illegal dumping of substances such as paint, oils, wash water from carwash facilities, etc., can result in discoloration of our local creeks and streams. These actions typically cause the creeks and streams to appear milky white, grey or unnatural in color.

To report any discoloration to creeks and streams, contact the Department of Watershed Management, Office of Watershed Protection, Stormwater Compliance Division, at 404-546-1520.

NOTE: Sewage spills into a creek or sewage odor should be reported by calling ATL311 Customer Service at 404-546-0311.

NOTE: The Department of Watershed Management does not conduct clean-up efforts on streams or creeks on private property. For additional information, please review the article, Who is responsible for maintaining creeks in the City of Atlanta?.
