To report an emergency, please call 911. An emergency is an incident that poses an immediate threat to life, safety or property.
Citizens can file a police report online for the City of Atlanta Police Department. The website (link below) allows users to submit a police report and print a copy of the report free of charge.
NOTE: You must provide an email address to report a crime online. Please turn off pop-up blocking software before filing the report.
Crimes that can be reported online:
- Harassing Phone Calls/Texts/Emails
- Damage to Property (Vandalism)
- Loss of Inventory (Business property)
- Lost Property (Private citizen’s property)
- Custody Order Violations
- Damage to Vehicle on Private Property (not to include entering an auto, theft from a vehicle or motor vehicle collisions)
- Theft of Services
- Identity Theft
- Fraud/Swindle
- Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards
After the crime report is successfully submitted online:
- You will see the message "Your report has been submitted" and you will be given a temporary report number.
- You will be able to print a copy of the temporary police report to keep for your records.
- The temporary case number indicates that the report is under review. The review process takes 5-7 business days.
- If there are no errors or missing information in the report and it is approved, you will receive an email with the actual APD incident number.
- Approved reports that require further investigation will be reviewed by the necessary investigate unit.
- If rejected, you will receive an email requesting missing or additional information.

- A crime that is about to happen
- Domestic violence
- Fire
- Injured person
- Life and death situations
- Medical emergencies
- Missing person
- Someone breaking into or entering your home or business
- Stolen vehicle
- Suspect who is still on the scene
- Traffic accidents
- Physical theft
NOTE: Filing a false police report is a crime.
