ALL open outdoor burning for disposal is prohibited within Atlanta city limits. Prohibited outdoor burning includes, but is not limited to:

  • Construction debris
  • Organic debris (tree stumps, branches, leaves and other land clearing efforts)
  • Trash
  • Rubbish
  • Bonfires

Cooking fires in appropriate receptacles such as barbecue grills are permitted. Residents may also have recreational fires in appropriate chimineas, outdoor fireplaces or fire pits on their property, if they are contained and not burning freely. In those cases, firefighters request that a fire extinguisher or bucket of water is kept within reach.

To report an active outdoor burning, call 911.
