The Department of City Planning has moved to a completely electronic process for permit applications and issuance. For step-by-step instructions on the process, please review the Digital Permit Submissions guidelines (link below).
A permit from the Department of City Planning, Office of Buildings, is required to erect a sign, except for certain routine signs exempted by the sign ordinance. The Office of Buildings is also responsible for enforcing the sign ordinance.
