Record restriction requests can be completed by the Atlanta Police Department only if APD was the arresting agency and the individual was held at the Atlanta City Detention Center.  If the arrest was made by a different arresting agency, please contact that agency.

Only one arrest date per application will be accepted for arrests made by APD. If you have multiple charges on one arrest date, list all charges that you want restricted on the application. 

For arrest(s) made BEFORE 7/1/2013 – 

  • If needed, Request a Certified Disposition from the Clerk of Court, located on the 2nd floor of the Municipal Court of Atlanta – Lenwood A. Jackson, Sr., Justice Center at 150 Garnett Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.

     

    • The disposition request form may be mailed to ATTN: Clerk's Office Municipal Court of Atlanta, 150 Garnett Street, Atlanta, GA 30303 or delivered in person. The Clerk's Office is located on the main floor of the courthouse. The form will not be accepted via email.  
    • There is a fee for the Certified Disposition. If mailing in the Disposition Request Form, a court representative will contact you with the total amount owed. The money order should be made payable to the Municipal Court of Atlanta.
  • Complete a Request to Expunge Arrest Record.
  • The Certified Disposition Letter, the completed expungement application, a photocopy of a valid ID, and payment may then be mailed to ATTN: Atlanta Police Department Identification Unit, 3493 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy, NW Atlanta, GA 30331.  The documents may be also be submitted in person. 
     
    • Valid identification is a driver’s license, passport, military ID, immigration (green) card, birth certificate with valid ID.
    • There is a $25 non-refundable fee, per request. The ONLY acceptable forms of payment are money orders or cashier’s checks made out to the City of Atlanta.

NOTE: APD does not make the decision to approve or deny any record restriction application. The application package will be forwarded to the appropriate court for review.
