Property held by the Atlanta City Detention Center —
Inmate personal property held by the Atlanta City Detention Center can be released 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with authorization from the detainee and valid identification. The Release Form can be picked up at the Detention Center, where it must be signed by the detainee.

Property held by the Atlanta Police Department
Property held by the Atlanta Police Department can be picked up Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM, at the Property Control Unit located at:

Property must be claimed within ninety (90) days from date brought into the Property Control Unit. The owner of the property can authorize pick up by another person. To do so, the owner must complete a notarized signed letter authorizing the release. The notarized authorization must include a description of the property, the owner's name, address, phone number and the name of the person authorized to pick up the property. The person picking up the property must present valid identification.


The Atlanta Police Department Property Control Unit no longer holds vehicles. Vehicles are released directly from the towing company. For more information on impounded vehicles, search for How to Retrieve an Impounded Vehicle from the Atlanta Police Department on ATL311.com.
