The Georgia General Assembly passed legislation requiring Georgia's cities to obtain affidavits to comply with the federal work authorization program(s) – E-Verify and Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE).
E-Verify is a federal program operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to verify employment eligibility information of employees. The employer is counted as an employee of the business (employee #1).
SAVE is a federal program for verification of the immigration status or citizenship of a business license applicant and if the applicant is legally entitled to certain “public benefits” in the United States.
Notarized SAVE and E-Verify affidavits must be submitted when applying for a new business tax certificate/license. Note: On the SAVE affidavit, to identify the secure and verifiable document you are providing with the SAVE affidavit, write the title of the document where advised on the form and include a copy with your submission.
