The Atlanta Police Department (APD) Central Records Unit will issue reports for the following:

  • Incident Reports
  • Accident Reports

 

Incident Reports – 
Reports can be picked up at APD Central Records (address below) and are free of charge for incident victims. For others directly involved in an incident, the cost is 10 cents per page which can be paid in the form of a money order, cash, or a personal check made payable to the City of Atlanta. To receive a report, a valid state issued photo identification (ID) is required, along with the incident report number. Reports generally take up to 7 business days to become available.

Accident Reports – 
There are two options for requesting an accident report. Reports generally take up to 7 business days to become available.

  • Pick-up in person - Persons directly involved in the accident, can pick-up a report from the APD Central Records at the address listed below. The cost for reports generated in person is 10 cents per page which can be paid in the form of a money order, cash, or a personal check made payable to the City of Atlanta. 

 

  • Order online - When ordering an accident report online from buycrash.com, the cost is $11 which can be paid using a major credit card or debit card. Once the online report payment is processed, the accident report is immediately available for download/printing. The accident report number and last name of person(s) involved is required in order to process an online request. Buycrash.com is available 24 hours a day.

 

NOTE: Anyone not directly involved in an incident or accident can submit an open records request to the City of Atlanta Police Department.

*NOTE: The APD Central Records Customer Service line is accessible from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM ESTEntry to the Public Safety Annex closes at 3:30 PM, with service areas remaining open until 4:00 PM.

A police report can only be changed by the Officer that made the initial report. To request changes, speak directly with that Officer. If there is a disagreement between the reporting person and the reporting Officer, then the reporting person can speak with the Officer's supervisor.  Information can be added to an existing police report by any Officer when the case number is provided.
