The Tax Refund Intercept Program (TRIP) allows the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to submit debts on behalf of Georgia courts to the Georgia Department of Revenue for collection from state income tax refunds. The intercept of state tax refunds is intended to satisfy court-ordered fines and fees that remain unpaid.
If you received a TRIP Letter from the Court: You have thirty (30) days from the date of the mailed notice to pay your fines and fees before you are enrolled into TRIP. If you believe that the notice is in error or have recently filed for bankruptcy, you need to contact the Finance Department at the Municipal Court of Atlanta by phone at 404-954-7914 or in person at 150 Garnett Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.
If you received a notice from the Department of Revenue (DOR) and wish to appeal: You have the right to submit a written appeal and request an Income Tax Refund Offset Hearing. Instructions for the appeal process can be found on the notice. Mail the appeal to:
