The City of Atlanta’s Short Term Rental Ordinance was adopted March 15, 2021 (20-O-1656) and established the legal process that authorizes the use of primary residences to host short-term visitors. Enforcement of the ordinance is effective as of March 5, 2023.

Eligible hosts can apply for a short-term rental license (STRL) – which is required for the use of one’s primary residence as a short-term rental (STR). All applications require online submission only. NOTE: A single STRL can include the primary residence and one additional dwelling. The primary residence MUST be registered first.

For additional information or questions, please contact the Department of City Planning, STR, via email at STR@atlantaga.gov or call 404-546-7990.

Complaints regarding short term rentals may submitted via email to STR@atlantaga.gov or CodeBustersDCP@atlantaga.gov.
