To renew your non-profit business occupation tax certificate and demonstrate that your organization continues to qualify for tax-exempt status, acce

NOTE: After your occupation tax certificate has been issued, you will receive an email notice of a new message in ATLBIZ. Upon receipt of the message, you will be able to print the certificate.

If you have not registered for ATLBIZ, you will need to register before attempting to renew your certificate. For more information on ATLBIZ, click HERE to view the guide “Getting to Know ATLBIZ’.

If you previously registered and you do not remember your email address on file, search ATL311.com for the article, Update Email Address/Forgotten Password Assistance for Business Occupation Tax Account. The article provides guidance for changes needed to your email address, including linking your new email to the business/occupation tax certificate.

The following documents are required for renewal submission via ATLBIZ:

  • Copy of your organization’s IRS determination letter, which was provided when your organization received 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
  • Copy of a secure and verifiable document as listed in the Georgia Department Revenue code O.C.G.A § 50-36-2 (e.g. unexpired driver’s license, passport, etc.). View the Georgia code for a complete list of acceptable documentation.
  • Copy of IRS form 990

If the business physical address has changed, you will need to submit both (1) your renewal and (2) change of address request via ATLBIZ. NOTE: A change of address requires zoning review and approval. A new Office of Buildings ZLA number must be included with the address change submission.

NOTE: Businesses with multiple locations inside and outside of GA must renew in each municipality or jurisdiction where the business operates.

If additional assistance is needed, create a request below. Please provide the business account number and a description of your concern in the “Customer Notes” box.
