To recertify for backyard services, you must submit the Backyard Service New/Renewal Application (below) that includes a certified statement from a licensed physician which states the resident is 70+ years of age or has physical limitations that prevent the placement of garbage and recycling carts at the curb.
Residents must renew backyard service by June 1st. Backyard service will be interrupted if documentation has not been received by July 31st. RE-CERTIFICATION FOR BACKYARD SERVICE IS REQUIRED ANNUALLY.
An incomplete form, missing document, and failure to recertify by the deadline will cause service delays and/or removal from backyard service.
The completed document can be submitted to DPW through either of the channels outlined below.

City of Atlanta trucks must be able to enter the driveway for collection, and the backyard must be accessible to DPW personnel; otherwise, backyard service cannot be provided.
SERVICE CANCELLATION: To cancel backyard service, please email your request to pwsettlements@atlantaga.gov or fax 404-546-9073. Be sure to include the resident’s name and service address, as well as the sender’s name if it differs from the resident.
