The Business Occupation Tax Certificate renewal season begins January 2nd annually. The deadline for submitting the renewal application and associated documents is February 15th. The payment deadline is April 1st. The City of Atlanta’s Business Occupational Tax and Permitting Portal is the only way to renew your certificate. The portal can be accessed here, ATLCORE.

You will be prompted to enter your renewal application information. Upon completion of this step, you will immediately receive your occupational tax invoice (will also include $75 registration fee) to remit for payment.

The following documents are required for renewal submission via ATLCORE:
(1) Complete Business Occupational Tax Renewal Application (via ATLCORE prompts)
NOTELine 9, Allowed Deductions, is not applicable to City of Atlanta customers. Please place 0 in this field.
(2) Copy of a valid government issued identification (i.e.: driver’s license, passport).
(3) Financial documentation. One of the following is required: (a) Federal and State of Georgia tax returns including schedules, (b) profit and loss statement, or (c) income statement
NOTE: ATLCORE will not accept upload of a file name containing special characters (&,@,/, etc.).

If you are alerted there is a hold on your account, you may not be able to submit your renewal. You should have received an email from the Office of Revenue providing details of what’s needed to process your application from a previous year. Upon submission of the requested documentation, the Office of Revenue will complete the prior application and send notification that you can submit your renewal.

NOTE: If you were contacted by the Office of Revenue to remit missing documents, make sure to send the missing documents to the requestor's email address, in addition to uploading them to your ATLCORE account.

If you do not remember your email address on file, view the article, ATLCORE - Update Email Address/Forgotten Password Assistance for Business Occupation Tax Account. The article provides guidance for changes needed to your email address, including linking your new email to the business/occupation tax certificate.

If the business physical address has changed, you will need to submit both (1) your renewal and (2) Change of Address request via ATLCORE. Businesses outside of Georgia must renew in each municipality or jurisdiction where the business is located.

If you need to renew for 2024 or earlier years, then you will need to complete the Multi-Year Application, please see Business Failure to File Multiple Year Renewal.

For in-person assistance, visit the Office of Revenue 55 Trinity Ave SW, Suite 1350, Atlanta, GA 30303, Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. NOTE: Customers are still required to process their application via the ATLCORE portal.
