The City of Atlanta has launched ATL CARES — Community Action & Relief for Emergency Support — to help residents during the projected lapse in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. We’re connecting residents with food, water, and housing resources.

Food Assistance

To receive assistance with food and essential household resources, contact one of the City’s local partners.

  • Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) – ACFB serves as a central hub for food distribution management but is not a primary pick-up location. Residents in need of food assistance are encouraged to:
    • Use the ACFB Food Map: acfb.org/get-help/food-map
    • Or text FINDFOOD (English) or COMIDA (Spanish) to 888-976-2232 to locate nearby partners.

  • Goodr Community Markets Delivery available for seniors and residents with disabilities.
    • 381 Edgewood Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312
    • 2491 Martin L King Jr Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30311
    • 2405 Fairburn Rd SW, Atlanta, GA 30331

  • Hosea Helps Provides groceries and other necessities like household items and toiletries.
    • 2545 Forrest Hills Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30315
    • Visit 4Hosea.org or call 404-755-3353
    • Open Tuesday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

Water Assistance

During the federal funding lapse, the City has suspended residential water disconnections due to non-payment through January 31, 2026, or when the federal shutdown ends, to ensure all families maintain access to clean water.

Full payment is still required for each account. Customers can make payments through Invoice Cloud or PromisePayPromisePay is a mobile friendly platform that allows customers to:

  • Set up customized payment plans
  • Request extensions or adjustments
  • View your balance and make payments using credit, debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or ACH
  • Receive text reminders and receipts

Housing Assistance

The City of Atlanta has paused evictions for anyone living in subsidized housing through Atlanta Housing until January 31, 2026, or until the federal shutdown ends — whichever comes first. Residents can visit atlantaga.gov or email ATLConstituentServices@atlantaga.gov for case-specific assistance.

For residents that want to help:

  • Donate to local food banks or nonprofits.
  • Volunteer with community partners.
  • Host a food drive or share resources within your neighborhood.
  • Spread the word using the #ATLCares hashtag.
