The City of Atlanta Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Services (SWS), will pick up any unwanted EMPTY city-issued garbage or recycling cart.

To submit a request for an empty garbage or recycling cart pick-up:

Call ATL311 at 404-546-0311
Create an online request below

Once submitted, the cart will be picked up within ten (10) business days.

To ensure service, place the empty cart upside down at the right-of-way (curbside), as the City of Atlanta does not access private property.

When submitting a request below:

In the Street 2 field, enter the unit number, if applicable.
In the Customer Notes field, enter the following information.

The color of the cart.
A gate code or special instructions for the driver, if applicable.
