The City of Atlanta Solid Waste Services (SWS) may replace damaged garbage carts upon inspection.

If your garbage cart is damaged, the following methods can be used to request a repair or replacement:

  • Contact ATL311 at 404-546-0311.
  • Submit an online request below. 

 

Damaged Cart Repair or Replacement Process:

  • Cart Placement for Inspection

Please place your damaged cart upside down at the right-of-way (curbside) to ensure it is accessible for inspection.

Placing the cart at the right-of-way allows DPW to inspect and service the cart without entering private property.

NOTE: If the damaged cart is not curbside at the time of inspection, DPW will not be able to complete the request. Your case will be closed and noted as “Bin Not Out.”

  • Inspection and Next Steps
    • Following inspection, DPW will determine the appropriate course of action:
      • Cracked body, broken lid, or damaged handle – A new cart will be delivered.
      • Broken wheel – A repair will be performed to restore the cart's functionality.

NOTE: If your damaged cart is not removed when the new one is delivered, please search for Cart Pick Up and submit a request. Once submitted, allow ten (10) business days for the cart to be picked up.

 

If needed, while awaiting your replacement cart, only place up to five (5) bags curbside. Do not use a non-city issued cart. 

 

If you purchase an additional cart, you are responsible for the replacement of that cart.
