On April 10, 2017, Mayor Kasim Reed issued an executive order temporarily suspending non-emergency construction activity while the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) makes repairs to the impacted sections of Interstate 85.
The executive order suspends work between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, throughout the Impact Mitigation Corridor, which extends from downtown Atlanta to the northern city limits, east to Moreland Avenue and west to US-41/Northside Drive.
The executive order goes on to allow that exceptions may be considered and granted on a case-by-case basis by the Department of Public Works. No non-emergency permit which blocks a lane or street will be approved until the executive order is no longer in effect, or if an exemption is granted as indicated in the Order.
To request an exemption, submit your permit application to Simeon Robinson at SJRobinson@AtlantaGa.Gov with your justification for the exemption.
